Jeep Compass launched in India

The iconic 4×4 SUV manufacturer Jeep has launched its new model ‘Jeep Compass’ in India. Jeep compass is the third model in India while it is the first locally assembled model by Jeep. With the entry of this model in SUV segment, It would be more easy for the customers to own the Jeep brand at such low prices. While the other model of the Jeep, the Wrangler, and the Grand Cherokee have the base prices more than Rs. 60 Lakhs and Rs. 75 Lakhs respectively. The price for Jeep Compass starts just from Rs. 14.75 Lakhs. This would be a huge relief to the ones who wanted to buy a Jeep SUV.

The base Sports petrol variant is available in Indian market at Rs. 14.75 Lakhs(Ex showroom Delhi) while the top model i.e.  Limited (o) diesel variant is available at Rs. 20.65 Lakhs.


Jeep compass has two engine options- a 162hp and 1368cc, 1.4-litre Multiair petrol engine with 16.30kmpl mileage and a 173hp and 1956cc, 2.0-litre Multijet II turbo diesel having 17.1kmpl mileage. The petrol engine has an option of a six-speed manual or seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox while the Diesel variant has a six-speed manual gearbox.

The Jeep compass looks similar to its other models Grand Cherokee.  The common design specs include the seven-slat grille, squared-off wheel arches,  projector headlamps, high ground clearance and big alloy wheels etc. The masculinity which the Jeep owns as a brand is visible in the new model as well.

The Jeep Compass could be the game changer for Jeep in Indian markets. Compass would be competing with Hyundai Tucson, Tata Hexa, and Mahindra XUV500 etc. But having the brand value Jeep has, this is going to rule Indian SUV market for sure. Compass gives a good on road driving experience while it outclasses its competitors in off-road performance.

Clearly with its design, performance and the brand value, it will the Indian roads in SUV segment.
